Samy Fresh - DJ, producer & "the rising star of the underground sounds" Helvetica Recordingz
Born in Zurich (Switzerland) in 1981, music quickly became a very important part of his life. Numerous instruments aroused his interest, but none was able to fully satisfy him. In 1995, being only 14 years young, it was the first time when Samy got in touch with the nightlife of his city and was instantly drawn into the whole new vibe. Apart from all those great impressions one thing wouldn’t go out of his head anymore, the ability to deejay. Consequently he and one of his school mates decided to purchase their first set of decks together. So in 1997 a few small appearances as a Hip Hop DJ at illegal parties marked the beginning of his career. Only one year later he discovered House music and its belonging underground clubs and culture. The atmosphere created by the totally different crowd and the endless rhythms of the music instantly caught his attention and made him leave Hip Hop music, although it was not easy. In the end it was the best decision in order to fully commit himself to House music. By the time he slowly gained more and more importance. At first he played out at some bars but then moved to the night clubs. In no time venues like Supermarket, Zoo Club or Scream Club could be found on his list of references. Until 2003 Samy mainly acted as a DJ and threw parties, but then stepped forward to producing his own music. He successfully finished his first track called “Deep Instinct” which was good enough to be added to the UK-DJ.org compilation. Later in 2005 he obtained quite some acceptance for releasing his remix for Simuck´s track “Remember me” on the American label Fiberline Audio. There is no surprise that after having been at every important club in and around Zurich he got booked for the Streetparade 2005 by Loris Melikoff personally, the top organizer of this event! At the same time a co-operation together with the party label “Insomnia-Club” started, which later even took over his management. As a longtime member of the Dutch party-platform “dancetrippin.tv”, Will Johnston (Bora Bora, Ibiza) was able to persuade Samy Fresh in participating in his DJ contest. Among over 30 other worldwide participants, Samy managed to succeed and attained the 2nd place! Yet he was the only person featuring a Progressive House mix: "A nice deep and progressive flavoured mix. The whole set was programmed nice, the mix mixing tight and again something different than your average house mix." so the evaluation! During 2006 further releases saw the light of the wide clubbing world and his tracks can be found on many playlists of well-known DJs. Whether Moshic, Taucher or Dan Welton, just to name a few, nothing seemed impossible by then. Radio stations like Ministry of Sound, Proton Radio or Frisky Radio all played out his roaring tracks. In addition there is his own radio show “Creme Fresh” which serves as a further platform for delivering fresh club sounds from around the globe. The monthly appearing show immediately got a resident slot on the American web-radio station Mercury Session & Eccentric Beats. After the fourth broadcast the acceptance for the show slowly grew which led to another resident slot at the Argentine radio station ADN Alternative. However the name “Creme Fresh” is also used for an innovative event series which will start off in September 2006 in Switzerland. The goal is to offer the best club music to the guests Already for a long time the name Samy Fresh was also internationally well known, in addition to his monthly resident appearance at the “Localunderground-Germany” which enables him to play next to great DJs from all over the world and abroad frequently, countries like Greece, Italy, Spain (Ibiza) etc can also enjoy his music!
